The New Zealand Association Resource Centre Trust is not a membership organisations and serves exclusively as an informal information hub. A free subscription to its digital newsletter and unrestricted access to its website applies to incorporated societies and charitable trusts. It is committed to assist capability building in the Third Sector both in voluntary governance and executive management. In this respect it relies on several professional associations that provide continuing professional development and/or award qualifications suitable for career development in the voluntary non-profit sector.

AuSEAS is a membership association with representation in both Australia and New Zealand. It provides networking and CPD opportunities in major cities on both sides of the Tasman and hosts a major annual conference. Individual membership is by open entry based on a grading system. It is governed by a board with representation from both countries.
NZTA membership requires existing credentials with qualifications in law, accountancy and/or extensive board experience. Membership is based on a tiered grading system culmination in fellowship. It provides a voluntary registration scheme for members working in an advisory capacity. It makes annual awards to outstanding individuals and trusts.
Formerly known as the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators its function is to accredit graduates, who have completed a prescribed course of study as professional governance and compliance professionals in the corporate, public, and non-profit sectors. The ACIS and FCIS qualifications are internationally recognised and highly transferable.
