When you first meet Jeremy, his passion for community development, particularly Maori economic development, and Iwi, Hapu and whanau development and wellbeing shines through. This seasoned tertiary education professional also had extensive experience in the private and public training sector at senior management level. He was first attracted to the NZARCT by the critical role it plays in being a portal to, and conduit for, training and development for the third sector.

Jeremy is people-focused with highly effective people-management communication, coordination and planning skills. He has a strong passion for developing and implementing quality-driven approaches to lifting NZ skills standards, productivity, and effectiveness of industry training. Currently self employed, Jeremy has 3 businesses – MTM Consulting Ltd [training, facilitation, educational management, business management], Leader International Ltd [Private Training Establishment] and Ruff Copy Productions [Music and entertainment]. He has gained his experience through roles including General Manager, PTE; Stakeholder Relationships Manager, ITO; Academic manager/2IC large multicultural PTE; and Executive Officer for large pan-tribal Maori organisation. Extensive relationships across the tertiary sector at university, polytechnic, Wananga, PTE and Government Agency level (including international education agencies) has given him an enviable reputation.

With a business and professional background based around developing people, designing, developing and delivering competency-based training, as well as training programmes and helping people and businesses build their skills, Jeremy feels a natural fit with the aims of the NZARCT. He’s excited about the mix of skills, backgrounds, culture knowledge and experience within the board and the operational support and expertise received through supporting associates. The focus currently on diverse communities, new migrants and providing a network of support for them, community groups and matching skills sets with organizational requirements is exciting.

Jeremy’s passion has lead him to be focused on Rutherford College BOT and assisting the school to develop, particularly within performing arts and Maori and Pasfika achievement. His two sons attend the College. He is also focused on youth development in west Auckland by being part of Ultimate Potential Trust and Ultimate Potential [UP2] incorporated society – with a focus on waka ama sport, music, performing arts and youth leadership. He is also passionate about music and supporting up and coming bands – and still he finds time to perform! Maori economic and community development is another area he is keenly interested in.

For the next twelve months, expect to find Jeremy developing his training businesses MTM Consulting Ltd and PTE Leader International Ltd. He will continue to work with job seekers – training and finding employment opportunities, providing training around business, management, project management and health and safety for employers, businesses, community groups and Maori organisations. And, all this while supporting his sons with their musical endeavours. We feel privileged to count him as a Trustee and appreciate his contribution of values, culture, experience and of course time!
